First Post

This is my first post! I am now in the university main library and typing this entry with my laptop. I always want to keep writing something, but seldom find time to do so. I do think it's good to write down my thoughts about the things happened around me or the current affairs, anyway, it will be nice for retrospect!

Recently, I keep watching American TV and listening to pop songs . I was used to watch the news from FOX or ABC every day and listen (or watch) the MVs from yahoo music when I was in Kansas. However, I don't think the US version Yahoo! Music works here in Hong Kong, the quality of the videos is really bad and halts frequently. Thus, I switch to listen Mix 93.3 which is a radio station and allows me to listen to it through the internet. For the TV, I can get access to 3-4 TV channels through a software program(FOX news, ABC news, SciFi etc). It would be better if I can get access to other channels, such as CBS, FOX or cartoon network. I used to watch Family Guy a lots last semester (they keep showing the same episodes repeatly though).

I just found out that Heroes is a really awesome TV drama (I know I am a bit outdated to say it since its second season has broadcasted already. But I only have time to start to watch it during my Reading Week (last week is my university Reading Week, this means there was no class and we were supposed to study for the mid-term exams for a whole week, haha but obviously, I didn't quite follow the official way.) In Heroes, there is a Japanese guy who has superpower and he can bend time and space, therefore, he can teleport himself from Tokyo to New York and to the past or future. His character is important in the drama and I started to realize that the status of Asian is really enhancing in the international TV industry. I remember in "LOST", two main characters is Korean, but I am not so surprised since not much scenes in the drama are in Korean. However, there are dozens of scenes in "Heroes" are in Japanese, some American actors and actresses in the drama spoke in Japanese too. And one episode is about that Japanese guy teleport himself back to the ancient Japan and there were samurai everywhere riding horses and fighting to each other. Those scenes are already different from the "stereotype" of American TV drama, really funny:)

Wow... I am listening Mix 93.3 right now and they are talking about ghosts! They are playing a tape recording and claim that there is a female ghost voice. Some audience call in and talk about the spooky places in Kansas. It will be funny to know, but I don't think I dare to go and check those places out even I am still in Kansas. This's kind of similar to some of the radio programs in Hong Kong! It's less scary to listen the English version ghost stories, haha probably because they do play pop songs throughout the program.

I heard about the vicious firestorm in CA, today is the fourth day already. It's terrible to see those houses burn down in the fire and the mushroom clouds in the sky. Hope the firestorm can be stopped soon. There were also several hill fire incidents which happened 5 days ago in Hong Kong, but they were stopped pretty fast. I don't think Hong Kong will have any firestorm as large as the scale in CA (and our forested areas are less extensive as those in CA. I guess all the trees in HK will be gone if we got a firestorm like the one in CA)

I am going to be the emcee of the coming high-table dinner (High-table dinner is like the prom and everyone is required to dress up). This dinner is a mandatory event for all 300 students in our dorm. We invite a doctor from the MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES to be our guest speaker in the dinner. The whole event will be conducted in English as there are a lot of international students in our dorm. seem a bit stressful, but I think it will be fun since I do have plenty of experience to be an emcee before during my high school years and when I was a freshman. What I am typing is so random, coz I did't organize my thoughts much. Hope it's not too difficult to read. The library is going to close since it closes at 10pm. I'd stop now and head back to dorm. Please feel free to leave me a message or a comment if you've read it. xxx
